Evangelist Emmanuel Osabutey
My name is Emmanuel Amasey Osabutey. I hailed from Big Ada, and am the third son of my parents. I am physically disabled, grew up in a Muslim community, and was once a newspaper vendor. An old man, who was once my customer, introduced Jesus Christ to me. It took me almost a year and a half to make up my mind to accept Christ. On the 20th May, 1980, I gave my life to Jesus Christ to be the Lord and Saviour of my entire life. I became a member of the Apostolic Church that same month. As time went on, I became a member of the Evangelistic group of the Church, preaching Christ to the people of other faith. I became very much interested in the Evangelistic Ministry of my church. After my secondary school education, I worked for some years. While working, I felt within me to send the salvation message of Jesus Christ to Muslim friends. I thought it all wise that I must have some training from a Bible College, where Islamic theology is taught. It took me three years before an old student of Good News Theological College and Seminary came to teach in our local church on the theme "reaching the Muslim mind with the gospel of Jesus Christ". After the programme I consulted him with some questions and the Seminary he attended. He introduced GNTCS as one of the best Seminary that can equip people for God's work. In 1995, I enrolled as a student at the Good News Theological College and Seminary and went through three years training Course and came out with Diploma in Theology in 1998. After graduation, I started reaching Muslims with the gospel of Jesus Christ. When ministering to them I usually use the Qur'an to prove to them about the birth, death, resurrection and second coming of Jesus Christ. In fact from 1998 to 2005 thirty Muslims and fifteen traditionalists have become serious followers of Christ due to my ministry. I had a desire to deepen my studies in the Bible so I tried to further my education in theology but tuition at the Bible colleges and the seminaries I found was below my expectation as compared to that of the Good News Theological College and Seminary. When I heard that the seminary had introduced a Degree programme, I applied and enrolled again and I am continuing my studies. The main reason for coming back to the Good News Theological College and Seminary was the high level of tuition and the inter-personal relationship between students and faculty. Some of the experiences I went through during my training was that our classrooms were wooden structure. The only one storey classroom block was uncompleted and serves as the library and dormitories with temporarily wooden doors and windows. Water and food supply was a big problem on campus by then, because the school is far from town, and new in that vicinity. Means of transport to the nearby town to get food was a problem. We experienced some unwanted visitors such as snakes and scorpions. During my second year, while classes were in progress a very big snake visited us suddenly in the class and we have to run for our lives. Personally, I thought some of the lecturers and the students will marginalize me, rather they encouraged and raised me up as how a father raises his child and by the grace of God, I am what I am today.
