Speaking to the PastorsThey asked me to speak on the emotions of the Holy Spirit. It was a challenge to understand what that might mean. When I looked into it, I saw that we only know the emotions of the Lord as his feelings affect us. Most of the emotions I found were negative and were in writings telling people not to fight with each other, but to bond together. The Love of the Lord is felt in the fellowship when we allow the Holy Spirit to bind us together. That is what he does and he is grieved when we act against what he is doing. So when he is grieved we are sad and without peace, but we are joyful when we love each other. When I finished, the bishop stood up to add an addendum about the actions of the Holy Spirit. That apparently was what he had wanted, not emotions! However, the mistake was of the Lord because this church had been troubled over the years and needed to hear the message about getting along in the fellowship. During the question/answer time I realized that they had understood little of what I said because of my accent, so in subsequent lectures I acted out illustrations more and tried to use the accent I was hearing. It seemed to work better. Fortunately, although they did not use an interpreter, they summarized the lecture in two languages. |
