Rev. Frank Botchway

Botchway

I am Rev. Frank Botchway, a graduate of the Good News Theological College and Seminary from 1991-1994.

My senior pastor initiated my enrollment into the programme but I had to go through the programme self sponsored.

I found the programme a bit tough initially because that was my first encounter with theological education and as such, I found most of the teaching and materials in direct contravention to some of the basic doctrines and practices of my church. Nonetheless, when I became more opened, I started enjoying the course for came a point that one must obey what the Bible says rather what someone says. This proves the Bible right when its states in Act 5:29; "We must obey God rather than man".

Good News Theological College and Seminary has really prepared me as a person and as well prepare me for my ministerial work as a whole. After my education with Good News, my head pastor traveled to U. S for two years between 1997-99 and I deputized for him though there were other senior pastors. The church now enjoys my teaching and preaching as there has been a tremendous transformation in my church after the Course. By His grace I am able to discharge my duty as pastor over a congregation and I use my experience to help my extended family on many issues.

I am now the Acting Librarian of the Seminary though I started in 1998 as a library assistant. I have gone through some short term courses with two of Ghana's recognized universities for proficiency in elementary librarianship.

I am presently undertaking a three-year Bachelor of Arts degree in theology to enable me pursue Masters in Library and Information Science. God willing I will complete the theology course this academic year.

Good News is the only Seminary in Ghana if not in Africa, whose programme is geared toward African Indigenous Churches. This is why some AIC members like me from all backgrounds are now capable to stand the challenge of ministering theologically without fear of being heretical.
