The inauguration ceremony was chaired by Rt. Rev. Stephen Obiemeka, Bishop of Christ Holy Church International, Abuja Superintendency. After a brief devotion by Snr. Apostle (Dr.) Sunday O. Usu, General Secretary of the OAIC-Nigeria Region and Secretary to the Board of Governors of the Abuja Campus, Bishop Obiemeka, who stood in for Most Rev. Daniel Okoh, the Chairman of the Organisation of African Instituted Church (OAIC), Nigeria, urged leaders and member-churches of the OAIC-Nigeria Region to see the establishment of the seminary in Nigeria as a great opportunity and avenue to train their pastors. Apostle-General (Professor) Joseph Otubu, an Elder of ESOCS Church, and the First Vice President and member of the Trustee Board of the OAIC-Nigeria Region traced the history of the Abuja Campus. He reminded leaders of the OAIC-Nigeria Region about: (1) the marginalization of AICs in Nigeria by the wider church, (2) lack of quality seminaries/Bible Colleges for the OAIC in Nigeria, (3) the need to minister qualitatively with other Christian bodies in Nigeria, and (4) the need to train younger pastors to take over the leadership and administration of OAIC member-churches from aged and aging church leaders. Prof. Otubu, who is the Provost, College of Medical Sciences of the University of Abuja, and a Board member of the Abuja Campus, told the gathering that he is looking forward to the day the Abuja Campus would be ranked as the best theological seminary in Nigeria. To this, he pledged his unflinching support and total commitment. Rev. Dr. Thomas Oduro, Principal of the Good News Theological College and Seminary, Accra, Ghana (GNTCS) informed the audience that the establishment of a theological College and Seminary for African Independent Churches (AICs) in Nigeria has been the dream of many Nigerian AIC leaders and some Western missionaries. He paid tribute to some AIC leaders in South-South Nigeria who invited the Mennonite Mission Board in America in the 1950s to give them deeper understanding of the Bible. The invitation led to the ministry of Dr. Edwin and Irene Weaver among the Uyos. The Principal also mentioned the contributions of Dr. Harold Turner and Primate Emmanuel Adeleke Adejobi, former head of the Church of the Lord (Aladura), who introduced the Weavers to AICs in Ghana; an introduction that led to the establishment of GNTCS in 1971. He promised the OAIC-Nigeria Region that the GNTCS in Ghana would support the Abuja Campus with her experience, resources and connections till the Abuja Campus achieves her aims and objectives. He urged member-churches to support the Campus with their resources and experience. Lastly, he praised the visionary leadership of the Most Rev. Dr. Daniel Okoh and the assiduity and commitment of Prof. Otubu. Other dignitaries in attendance were: Superintendent Apostle Akindele Ọmọjọla, Assitant General-Secretary, Christian Association of Nigeria, and a Trustee of the OAIC-Nigeria Region. Rev. Dr. R. B. C. Nwankwo, Public Relations Officer, OAIC-Nigeria Region. Most Superior Evangelist R. A. Akinkunmi, Chairman, OAIC, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. Special Apostle A. A. Bọndunrin, Chairman, Cherubim & Seraphim Church Movement, Abuja. Dr. Adeleye Adesua, Vice Principal, G.N.T.C.S., Abuja Campus Rev. Humphrey Akogyeram, Lecturer/Registrar, G.N.T.C.S., Accra.
